The Foundation of Vacuum Performance

On-board Gasketing is most often used by shops that need a fast, practical way to improve vacuum hold-down directly on top of the spoilboard. It is a good fit when the operator is not ready to build a dedicated fixture, but still needs better vacuum hold on the part(s) that they need to cut than the wide-open spoilboard or general vacuum zone can provide. By placing gasket on the board just to the inside of the cut work area, the operator can create a more focused hold-down zone for the parts being cut. This helps limit wasted air, improve grip, and reduce the amount of taping, blocking, and “just get through the job” problem-solving that happens when parts do not want to stay put. There is now a defined area that we will suck the air from, creating negative air pressure, and as a result, vacuum clamp.

For CNC operators, the advantage of On-board Gasketing is speed and flexibility. It gives the shop a way to adapt the table to the job at hand without routing a fixture channel or rebuilding the vacuum system. This can be especially helpful for short runs, changing part sizes, test cuts, problem jobs, or smaller nests where the vacuum needs to be brought closer to the work. When the gasket is placed thoughtfully and the unused areas are controlled, the vacuum system can work more directly under the material instead of pulling from everywhere at once. For many shops, On-board Gasket becomes the machine-side fix that helps turn a questionable setup into a cleaner, more confident run.

Technical Guideline

  • Clean surface before applying
  • Run ghost pattern on the spoil board then apply gasket 1/8” inside
  • Press firmly to ensure full contact
  • Combine with grid gasketing for best results

Maintenance

  • Replace as needed when material wears or loses seal
  • Easy removal and reapplication for changing jobs

FAQ’s

  • Can I apply this to an existing spoilboard?
    Yes—this product can be applied directly to your current spoilboard, as long as it has been freshly resurfaced
  • Will it damage my table? 
    No it will not.  The easiest way to remove it is to run your normal resurfacing program.  The gasket will not damage the fly cutter.
  • How long does it last?
    It depends on the weight of the material and how carefully production parts are loaded and removed. With normal use and proper handling, the gasket will last through extended production runs.
  • Can I remove and reuse it?
    No
